Three Component Test of Dopaminergic Function
This test can be used to profile the effects of drugs on limbic and striatal dopaminergic function and neurochemistry in the same animals. The three components of the test (measured as part of a single experiment) are :-
- locomotor activity
- stereotyped behaviour
- striatal levels of dopamine and its metabolites (Neurochemical Fingerprinting)
The model can be used to assess compounds altering dopaminergic function or to show that drugs have little effect on the dopaminergic system in vivo.
