At the end of studies, tissues can be taken and prepared for histopathological analysis using routine histological stains (eg Haematoxylin and Eosin, Oil red O, Azan and Masson Trichrome and Periodic acid Schiff) and immunocytochemistry (eg β-cell immunostaining for insulin and glucagon).
