Pair Feeding Studies

Pair-feeding studies in both rats and mice can be used to investigate the contribution made by reduced food intake to the overall weight-loss. Vehicle-treated animals are given the same amount of food as the drug treatment group and would be expected to lose the same amount of weight unless the reduction in body weight was due to factors other than, or in addition to, inhibition of food intake.
