Liver Function and Pathology

We offer a range of assays for evaluating the effects of novel drugs on liver function and pathology in animal models of liver disease.

Methods include measurement of the following parameters

  • Liver collagen (hydroxyproline), triglycerides, cholesterol, NEFA, glycogen and total fat content
  • Plasma/Serum analysis of the liver enzymes ALT, AST and ALP
  • Collection and staining of liver slices for lipid deposition, steatosis, hepatocellular ballooning, lobular inflammation and fibrosis scoring by an independent pathologist (PathCelerate) and for generation of NAFLD activity scores (NAS)

Measurement of plasma/serum, liver collagen/lipids and assessment of liver histology can be conducted on samples from external studies.
